Don't know about that but you're a shoe-in for 'disturbance' allowance.

Western, I wonder if you could answer a question for me?

Given your deep and abiding hatred of the Army and all of us poor saps in it, why have you wasted 6239 posts to make your chippy points?

I, for example, do not subscribe to 'bitter underachieving ex soldiers who have convinced themselves that salary equals true worth.co.uk'

I am sure you will have a jaundiced and illogical answer to my genuine enquiry. I await with baited hook.

For one I do not 'hate' the Army or those in it.

I do strongly dislike many things about the Army. For instance people hung up on affectations such as 'chippy'. So explain for me what is a 'chippy point'? Genuine question.

I also find irritation in the number of people who post on Arrse who are Grief Whores or Military Martyrs who think the Army and the wider world owe them a living.

Most of all I really do enjoy winding up those Neanderthals who joined the Army because they had no alternative and have convinced themselves they are some higher form of life.

Now as Bob Dylan said 'Join the Army if you fail' I accepted that the day I signed.

As opposed to you who joined the Army because you had no alternative, left because everybody in the CofC 'failed' you, and have only now convinced yourself that you are a higher form of life. If only you could have accepted you were a failure from the start of, and throughout, your Army career, you would probably be a very happy LCpl by now.

I might be wrong but your username insinuates you are Int? Am I wrong?

I really don't understand how you came to thast conclusion. My CoC didn't fail me and in traditional terms I had a successful military career ending after 22 years as a WO1. I had no ambition or desire to stay in the madhouse a second longer.

I have since progressed and am lucky enough to be financially secure and comfortable. Most of my contemporaries have not done so well.

Throughout my service and since I have formed my opinions and stand by them

By the way what is your burning ambition? Bog Cleaner?

Yes I was, as it happens, as I thought the whole bl00dy thing was such a joke. I had a laugh when I didn't have to play at taking it seriously.

First recommended for RCB at nineteen, then twenty one and twenty three. Didn't see myself staying in the so didn't bother. By thirty or so in a self decided pension trap but generally amused by those around me shafting each other for every little 'advantage'. Saw two driven to suicide while caught up in that game. It's not always that funny although I knew some who joked about their deaths.

Fortunate enough to have a job that allowed me to observe the wider system and spot the petty corruption and backstabbing at all levels. I did feel genuine sorrow for the minority of decent people who joined only to see them ground down by the system.

Me I left, progressed, achieved and am comfortable. It's not a unique story.

    And yourself?

Me! Still serving and would like to think when I finish (3 years) I will be able to look back on my time with a certain amount of fondness. I certainly won't become as bitter and twisted as yourself and will have respect for those still serving.

Still, reaching WO1 you must have played the system (you dislike so much) to your advantage.

I also wasn't aware that AAC was under recruited and a priority for RSC staff to fill. So my next stop was Middle Wallop and the rest as they say is history.

That explains a great deal. A failed RMP - Enuff Sed!
Sorry Western. I got the impression, some how, that you blamed everybody else for your career failings.

Sinks and mirrors all the way.

You really do look for a conspriracy that is not there don't you?

I really can't get your point. I am guessing that you are a clerk? Sorry mate part of that 60 - 75 % of the army who are nothing more than uniformed civil servants. As are the greater majority of officers who are not soldiers, just elevated clerks themselves.

I am sure you can look back with fondness, you will probably have a great deal of time on your hands to do that.

I am not bitter and twisted, just say it as I find it.
