Agreed - to the Queen's Commission, not the person wearing it.

Soldiers have their own special ways of showing disrespect to the holders, as witnessed in this thread

I heard of a very junior subby ripping out a junior for throwing up a particularly sloppy salute and standing in front of him making him do it again until the officer was happy with it. Unfortunately for the subby, the stick man witnessed this and, in the quiet tone RSMs are known for, enquired why the young officer was not returning the compliments as paid? The two offenders spent the next few minutes paying each other compliments until the razz man was happy with the drills he was witnessing. Following this, the soldier was quite pleased with the resulting embarrased orifice making a hasty retreat, until the RSM thanked him for volunteering for every duty in the forseeable future.
I like you, you remind me of me when I was young and foolish.

Always nice to see another classic urban legend dusted off and given an outing.

RE My last, The post was meant in Jest, I am personally quite fond of our traditions and regimental tradition. I honestly dont beleive the guards should be disbanded.

What do you do when you are in your car and are saluted, like at the guardroom? I sort of brace up as much as the space will allow and say good morning etc, never really been sure of this one.

Personally I think tradition sets us apart.
We could get rid of saluting and keep our traditions, battle honours and if needs must, even the Guards, they ain't all linked you know. You've only got to look through the amount of threads on here to see how much confusion and chaos the subject of saluting causes.
It's archaic and probably against the human rights act (everything else is).

It took you 21 months to come up with that pearl of wisdom. The only people who get confused by saluting are the sort of people who resurrect (nearly) 2 year old dead threads to make bone statements.
I could match my wage in civvy street but then I'd have to do some work!
