Claiming Medals for Monte Casino and Tabuk

I was wondering if any of you lot had experience of claiming medals for family members no longer with us?

My wife's granddad recently passed away and i have offered to where his medals for him for remembrance, to be told " I've never seen any but he did serve at Monte Casino and Tabuk during the war" with this in information where would i start to try and claim these or any medals that this old soldier should have had, I mean i cant believe he wasn't entitle to any if he had served at either battle.

    Any help would be appreciated

Can't do the link, but Google The Veterans Agency. My mum sorted my grandfathers medals out after he died through them.

I imagine if he served in Tobruk, then Monte Cassino he would be entitled to The 1939-45 Star, The Africa Star, The Italy Star, The War Medal and Defence Medal. Good luck.

It might be a good idea to find out what the current protocols are as regards the wearing of relatives medals. At one time this was reserved for the immediate family of those who had fallen in combat.
