    Medal mounting, stable belts, corps or regiment embroidered rank slides, brigade TRFs, unit tracksuits / t-shirts / sweatshirts etc, etc, etc. Either lump it or get yourself elected* to the corps dress committee!

    * Yes, I know. It isn't a democracy.
    Actually, you'll find AGC Corps Dress regs state that units can make you wear them etc etc (though I'm not in the habit of reading other Corps', I'm sure their much of a muchness), but you CAN NOT be forced to pay for them. Been there done that won the battle, lost the war. Depends how much you want to stand your ground.

    Certainly in my case, I got fed up of having to buy 3 new t-shirts, 3 new rank slides, a new stable belt and sometime a TRF everytime I got posted stood my ground and won, though it was made as unpleasant for me as humanly possibly as is the Army's want when it comes to somebody that actually stands up for their rights using military legislation. he ho.

    Green Belts FTW!

    Is that what they give us the Op allowance for?

    Like JT I too stood my ground, got stamped on, stood up again etc, finally got them to put it (t-shirts, belts etc) on orders and then I used that to claim the expense on my annual tax return.
    Don’t know if that was correct but the tax man never queried it!!!
    I do not have a psychiatrist and I do not want one, for the simple reason that if he listened to me long enough, he might become disturbed.

    I presume that for Officers this would come under the tax allowance for uniform upkeep
    They shall mount up with wings as eagles.

    Putting it on orders just gives you signed written evidence of an illegal order, good job the tax man was happy about it or your Unit would have been right up shit street if you REALLY wanted to make a point

    Every unit I've been to that has a unit tailor/tailoress charge to get them done. A few years back in Gutersloh I had to pay for all the ribbons from the PRI shop, then pay 5 euros per medal to the base tailoress.
    Not bad then. Just 5 euros to get your Battle of Jubilee medal mounted then ;)
    I'm waiting until 2012 so I can have 2 medals.
    Whats happening 2012?

    I suspect you are waiting for HM to celebrate a mere 60 years on the throne and issue a Diamond Jubilee medal? I hear it might only be a clasp to put on the QGJM ribbon but a medal for those who don't have the QGJM - so might not be worth waiting!
