It is not only marriages that throw up "odd" situations. Try the old country infantry regiments. Lots of brothers serving together, some in direct command of others. Father the CSM, son a young private in the same company. Older brother a WO2, younger brother a Capt.

It never appeared to be a problem as it was no secret and everyone knew how to be professional and not let such relationships get in the way.

That said, there is something about watching the CSM gaoling his son for being in bad order.

This thread has just reminded me of a lovely Female PTI I was having very un-officer like thoughts about 13 years ago.

    Apparently it is called progress.
It is presumed then that the day is not far off when a QM & RSM can get an MQ togther as a "married" couple. Inf regt of course.

You see! This is why birds and CID don't mix.
You give a bloke a gun and he thinks its a dream come true
You give a girl one and she knows it doesn't go with a dress.

There were discussions over dinner in a particularly bad mess (fabric rather than people) about 2 male officers getting 'married' and then occupying a quarter. Rank meant they would qualify for a 3 bedroom, so 1 each and a spare. At posting time 'divorce' and repeat the process on arriving at a new unit. No-one could ever be arrsed to try it because it was too much like hard work.
I could match my wage in civvy street but then I'd have to do some work!

Be Alert, the Army needs lots of Lerts

Fly Army, Sail RAF, Rum, Bum & Baccy

Guardsmen, ummm i am sure there is a use but i'm fucked if i can think of one

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Surely the real question is not CAN but rather SHOULD. As I frequently tell my children just because you can doesnt mean you should or must and just because it is legal doesnt mean it is right.

Should two sergeants be allowed to marry?

Hell no! Then I'd be reporting to my wife at home ASWELL as at work!

My Dad used to say the same sort of thing.

"Son, just because you can shag your sister, it doesn't make it right. Even if she is fit and goes like a belt fed Wombat."

    He was a wise man.

You know what? I really couldn't give a fuck!!!

I knew a REME Sgt whose wife became QARANC(V) nursing officer after they married. Marriage broke down in late 1980s, when REME Sgt was attached to a UOTC and got involved with an officer cadet.
