Re: Boyfriend being Discharged
I knew loads of people with insulin dependant diabetes that soldiered on. I would have thought that he would be med boarded out so medically discharged not administratively. Being in debt, the six year money, the refusal of agencies to help, the whole thing doesn’t ring true. Being a girlfriend the op she may never get the fully story, sorry I can’t be more positive but it all just sound like a made up story to cover for something else.
Can who ever stole Aunty Stella’s login please give it back.In God I trust everybody else signs.

Oh and tell me out of the organisations I listed (near the top) what ones should be disregarded.
If the opening posters other half is indeed getting sh*t on then I will openly apologise.

As for the financial stuff, I have deliberately not commented or condemned because we have all been young soldiers and some of us were not the financial wiz kids that others on here obviously were at that age.ARRSE Premiership Champion 06/07

Re: Boyfriend being Discharged
i am currently going through he same process.
i have done 18 years in the army and i was diagnosed with diabetes 5 years ago. when i found out i went to see the doctor and asked if i would get booted out or a medical discharge because i had diabetes and was told no as long as i kept it under control.
i have kept it under control and 2 years ago i was given veng which means i could extend beyond my 22 year point
i am the unit postie but now the army has decided that i cannot do that job because i have diabetes.
i understand the need to have as many deployable people as possible but the job that i am doing i cant deploy because i do the mail for all the wives left back here when the guys are away. why are the army allowed to promise the earth and then pull the ground from beneath your feet.
the way they are handling this seems bollox to me. 4 weeks ago i was told i might be getting kicked out i have had numerus interviews in bn i have tried sorting out my resettlement and anything else for the outside world but cant because it is still not confirmed if i am getting the boot or not so it is the classic hurry up and wait syndrome that we in the army are so used to.

The army is making tough decisions to get rid of financial leaks, the easiest to sort out fast is manpower. However they will using the system against you get rid of you as quick as possible. They will do it so that they do not incur costs. Id suggest contacting British Armed Forces Federation and get legal representation as fast as possible. Dont sign anything, get everything in writing, see a independent doctor (one that specialises in diabetes) and also a independent occupational therapist. Do not bring up the debt as that is one way they can admin discharge you. They will at APC lose records, the med centre will lose records and the unit clerk will lose records. Get copies of these by fair means or foul. (I walked straight in to see the file and photocopied the lot) they can stop you physically but not legally.
If there are any meetings with RCMO or MO have a chaperone who takes notes.
They will admin discharge you rather than go through a medical board. This is currently illegal. The army know but will get away with it corporately because of its size. They have a history of this. Remember that.
Also make sure that your boyfriend is squeaky clean. No buckshee kit, that he attends all parades on time, his equipment is admin. That all JPA claims are done correctly. Because believe it or not AGAI action is easy to use against him.
How do I know all this? Because they tried it with me, still in and still fighting. Remember the system is full of penny pinching bastards and because its a big machine will get away with it.
Good luck
Dont forget the power of the press. I would do it now pre election.
