Re: Cadet stereotypes!
The good/helful/reasonable OCDT.
Good bloke/person. Helful, useful, dependable individual...makes up quite a majority of the OCDTs
The OCDT who tries hard but doesnt get it.
An ocdt, or indeed and army cadet who genuinley tries hard, but often just doesnt get it. Needs that bit extra help, but actually quite rewarding when one sees them "get it"/ succed.
JUO ninja. Ocdt SGt ninja
Extension of good/helful/resoanble OCDT. Will listen, will instruct and lead well. helpful, not because he/she thinks that the major is watching or that they might get on that trip to ??? but because they are genuinley reasoanble indiviuduals. Widely respected. Usually a JUo responsible for first years.
The JUO/ocdt scgt/ cadet nco that everyone really wishes wasnt a JUO etc etc.
Either A, promoted because there was no one else or B for shits and giggles. Takes themselves far to seriously, usually specializes in one area. Will fly off the handle at anyone who questions them. Not well respected, avoided at all oppertunities. IS never ever ever ever ever wrong. its always someone elses fault.
Irritating/walt OCDT.
HAs been on thousands of fam visits, possibly passed RCB (and credit to them for doing so) but is a complete arrse about it. Thinks they now more, can do more, run faster, be better than serving sgt mjr of 22 years...often embarrased when shown to be that waltiest of walts. Has the effects of making everyones fists tighten when walks into a room.
Special mention: 2lt promoted from OCDT.
Scary, sometimes female. scares the pants of everyone at 100 yards, either by pure evil or by the fact that they can run faster/eat/ drink more than is thought to be humanley possible. Female variety may have been so scary that legend has it that she wasnt allowed SUO pace stick. To be depended on..not crossed. Other varieties include that ocdt who no one really knew that well coming back after the summer as a 2lt....then wandering around with an unwarrented sense of self worth.
Middle of the road ocdt
the grey man/woman. enjoys the uotc, has done nothing special, but has not fallen behind. Just turns up often...often the guy whos name no one can remember. will diseapear after uni beomce multi millionare, someone famous....or a serial killer.Wassis button do?

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Re: Cadet stereotypes!
you know when your hurt because you laugh too hard and cant shut up? you evil person Burgers!! wwwADHD Cadet
You're usually not told about this one until after he fails to take his pills in time, assaults a position and bayonets live enemy with the tent-peg gaffa-taped to the end of his rifle. From this point onwards you have to keep taking the rifle off him every time he gets a little wound up and physically pin him down during one of his 'funny' phases.

Re: Cadet stereotypes!
The Drop Out Sixth Form NCO
Rarely turns up in anything resembling Queen’s uniform, sports an outrageous hairstyle that would have Lord Kitchener turning in his watery grave. Hasn’t produced a lesson plan of worth for as long as anyone can remember, that is if they are allocated to teach anything. Their personal admin is as bad as their fashion sense, they sensibly avoid former cadets who are now Civilian Instructors who are dying to make examples of them. When questioned directly as to their sorry state and accused of thieving oxygen from more worthy specimens they reply with:
My uniform is in the wash
I had a lesson last period so I couldn’t change
It’s a non uniform day
I’m not teaching so I don’t need to turn up in uniform
The rest of the questioning normally takes pace in the front support position (see pressup) whilst afore mentioned CI spits abuse from on high. Obviously no further use to the unit, only turns up to say to their mum/dad/parents they still go and have not completely failed at life. These sorry individuals are best not appointed to positions of responsibility in the field as their assured incompetance and ability to feck up the easiest of manoeuvres knows no bounds. Nothing a 9mm to the back of the head wouldn't cure.

Re: Cadet stereotypes!
The Ex Cadet.
Has left Cadets and joined TA/Reg but can't let go of the Cadet way of doing things.
I remeber one sunny day in Gib being drilled by a HCR drill pig when 'Ex Cadet' points out to drill pig that and I quote "that's not how we did drill in the cadets, if you want I'll show how to do it properly after" at this point a void appeared around him as everyone else dived for cover! Insists on pointing out during training sessions that "I learnt to do this in cadets" so doesn't really have to sit in on this lesson.

Unfortunately these are one of the "breed" that become the AIs that ruin the reputation of the Youth Organisation.
