How many times have you spoken to someones wife/girlfriend/partner at a mess function and not had a clue what they did for a living but still enjoyed talking to them? If you then found out the next day that that person was a full screw medic in a regiment 50 miles away, would it really have been that much of a big deal?

Quite so. If it is indeed true love and does not involve the breaking up of established relationships/marriages, remains outside the chain of command and you don't make it an issue at mess functions, then it'll be fine.
What I don't quite get is that for some reason female officers marrying male SNCOs seems to be much, much more common than the other way around. Strange but true. Please no, not the face!...

So. Having looked at his recent posts, the OP is a youngster not yet at university who plans on joining as an Officer down the line.
I'd suggest that you have higher ambitions in the Army than marrying one of your troops.
An odd question for someone in your position.

I thought Padres were not Commissioned Officers as such but held Officer status ?
I was always given to understand that they always assumed the same rank as the person they were talking to. They only rank I have ever seen them wear on their epaulettes, collar etc is that of the cross.
