    Legion Of Frontiersmen?

Can anyone tell me any real information on this lot?

Do they have any MOD sanctioned or supported function or position any more?

mm first time i heard of this lot, how did you find out about them MIB?
looked at the links i must admit i feel slightly dubious about them, thye look like boy's own adventurers as to the officers are they commisioned in the same way as our officers or is it just an internal thing.
there is very little information about them.

Found on the following site: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acro...24/legion.html

Legion of Frontiersmen of the Commonwealth
Legion of Frontiersmen Inc (No A0023391V)
Patron: Rt Hon Countess Mountbatten of Burma CBE CD JP DL AMM
Commonwealth Commandant: Commandant-General RJ Potter LMSM LCM ACM CGA FTA Pnr
Australian Patron: Major-General AC Murchison AC MC ED LMSM LCM ACM AMM
Honorary Colonel - Australia Command: Colonel (LF) RH Morgan MBE JP
Australian Commandant: Deputy-Commandant-General (LF) EA Rich JP GCSJ LMSM LCM ACM AMM Pnr
Commandant Victoria: Colonel (LF) Anthony Bailey KCSJ LCM AMM

It all seems a bit like "fairly secret army" but then the UVF were volunteered en masse by Carson. The story goes he left the war office and went to a famous clothing company whose name eludes me and ordered 10,000 uniforms. So that bits not without precedent. On the other hand it seems a little like the rotary club with berets. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. It does remind me of the Confederate Air Force though (US vintage aircraft enthusisasts who put on air shows) they have no member below the rank of Major!

At least one of the Frontiersmen website has a full rank structure complete with ORs, SNCO types and subbie equivalents. So not guilty of comparison with the Confederate Airforce on that count

Yes, those links are to the same bunch.

They were used to do some security work at the Army Show in Aldershot earlier this year.

Can anyone add any useful info or experience?

It's a bad picture, but that fatty in the middle appears to be toting an old "Broom Handle" Mauser

However, I suspect I'm taking crap and it's actually an air pistol :D

There's only one thing more dangerous than a woman with a rifle...

    ...an officer with a map.

Would you stand in front of the firing point with that bunch of Walts?

It does look like an air pistol mind you.

Hmmm, these people have 'Barking Mad Fantasist' written all over them in great big letters. Love the red berets though
