Discuss Legion Of Frontiersmen? at the NOW That's What I Call ARRSE 1 forum within the The Army Rumour Service website; What about the 'First Aid Nursing Yeomany' (FANY to you)
A Para-Military 'All Female' Organisation.
...
Female SOE agents (Spy's) were commissioned into the FANY during WWII
Good question: what the feck are the FANYs all about? Back in the good old days at Duke of Yorks they were handily placed for providing bedtime companions for members of 10 Para and 21 SAS but I was fecked if I could work out what they actually did, other than polishing the photographs of their famous WW2 predecessors...
They do whatever is required of them from providing linguists, crisis management for the capital and emergency first aid cover as well as collecting a pool of " nice gels" who look pretty smart in combats with a relatively small number of space hoppers in evidence.
I met one of FANY's senior people at a Civil Contingencies meeting - stout brogues, kevlar tweed suit and loud voice. One of their functions is to assist the police with the casualty bureau in the event of a major incident in London.
FANY offers friendship, unusual experiences and the opportunity for new and exciting challenges
If you are between 18 and 45 and live or work within the M25, call now!!!!!
Seems like half of Windsor Garrison could call them!!!
I am the brother of an ex- FANY (or the womens auxillary baloon corps as it is known chez Trotsky) and have on occassions complety failed to get off with some others.
They work with City Of London Police to provide their casualty beaureaux and extra communications staff and also have a linguists pool. I suspect they are usefully cheap because they don't get paid....

So the Legion Of Frontiersmen & First Aid Nursing Yeomanry are a volunteer Para-Military Force unlike the TA in that they do not get paid, even if you use them?

Apparently some moderators take themselves very, very seriously, and cannot abide posts such as:
