basically they are a remnant of volunteers who trained to provide disaster relief amongst other things. they joine dup en masse in WWI with the belgian army before the UK declared war. when the UK did more joined and had a fusilier regiment named after them as they made up almost the entire regiment. from what i can gather they are a rather harmless (perhaps even useful) bunch full of ex-servicement who want to carry on wearing and earning medals, and they have particularly amusing uniforms and accoutrments.

There is quite a bit here:
http://www.frontiersmenhistorian.info/
Essentially it is a par-miltary service organisation.
I suppose in a way similar to the various old independent "Rifle Company" etc
At one time they wore a uniform not unlike the subdued brown RCMP uniform

i wonder why we haven't heard of them before?
they seem to have a high enough profile with belgium and has official permission to use the Horse guard parade ground takes some doing.
i will have to watch out for them next time i come to London at about that date.
tey don't advertise themselves well, which reminds me of a girl guide /brownie type organisations called the "League of Foresters", i bumped into them when i was doing my D of E expedition as a young lad, again they seemed popular enough in the derbyshire area yet don't advertise themselves much

I wonder if they are going through recruitment / retention difficulties at the moment?
And if they are popular in Belgium, chances are they may all be paedophiles - hence the obsession with Scouts.
That's another big fcuking tick in the box

i also asked earlier on but it wasn't answered do the officers within the Frontiersmen have a proper officers commission as fromt he crown or would it be an internal appointment.
some of the prominenet frontiersmen has DSOs, VCs, KCs after their names
