He had bought a large map representing the sea,
Without the least vestige of land:
And the crew were much pleased when they found it to be
A map they could all understand.

Unlike the old lanes of Ashtead, Grays Lane is very wide with deep grass verges. Pies2 and others on the CCTR , how did it go?
It went very well. Cargo has done some amazing work, big brownie points to him. I was shocked by the width and space of the area. In my minds eye I was expecting a dark and leafy lane. IT IS NOT A LANE IT IT IS A ROAD. The is ample space for two cars to pass without slowing down. All the properties are so well spaced and hedged that I fail to see how any SSAFA visitors would even be noticed. To be honest to see Grays Lane and to then compare the objections just made me even more angry than I was before. I think I speak for all present this evening in that regard.

Just to up the tempo on this I have just E mailed BBC news24:
Re: Headley Court military rehabilitation centre.
This story was brought to my attention via the Daily Mail on the 15 July.
Some members of the local 'communtity' have objected to a families house for wounded service men & women, as they deem it could be a terrorist target. And other such ridiculous arguments.
Iam currently a serving member of the armed forces, there is a very severe case of nimbyism in the local community. Iam a memeber of the Army Rumour Service (ARRSE) which has a rather large thread on this subject. I would like you to raise our point of view on this matter and let the rest of the Nation understand how we need such a place for the families of wounded service personel.
all the information is on: www.arrse.co.uk
The thread is:
Nimby neighbours war with SSAFA - WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
All ways look on the bright side of life!!!
The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cros...s" since the blitz in 1940
Re: Nimby neighbours war with SSAFA - WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
Ex-Mr Slug (under the patio now) was at Headley a few years ago, and I seem to remember him telling me that some punter from Status Quo lived round there. Does anyone know?
