Cheers Kieran - you can sleep well tonight! Job well done - and you're right about this raising the profile of Gurkha rights on a wider scale.
Yet again, our government's evident contempt for those wearing and who have worn the colours, has spectacularly backfired.
I hope the message that "there are plenty of people around the world, who care dearly for our armed forces, past and present, so don't feck with them," will not only be getting louder, but also now be taken seriously in every area of the government's tasking, operational support and aftercare of the people who serve our nation.
The last week, has I feel, changed perspectives. Look forward to seeing Gurkha Pun welcomed home by his many friends.
I heard the news on the way home tonight and I have to say that it made my day.
A big well done to everyone concerned in this case. At last, somebody has seen sense.
I'm prepared to wager a whole crisp five pound note that there will be some wholesale personnel changes in our Embassy in Kathmandu in the not too distant future.
I absolutely had to celebrate tonight, so please excuse the Krononbourg fingers.
Kieran - said it before, but thanks for proving not all solicitors are slime.
ARRSERS - thanks for reminding me how much I love this organisation we belong to. A brief trawl of the site shows how much our opinions and viewpoints differ and indeed quite how much personal dislike can be provoked.
Yet, when we see an affront to our shared values, it is like a word of command on the drill square, and suddenly a diffuse crowd of individuals fall in and march in step with perfect precision.
I have a reputation as being a bit inexpressive, so imagiune the Jade Dream's surprise to find me sitting up with tears runnig down my face and a big sloppy grin on my face. Yes, I'm a big Jessie. I bet you are, too.
We need people who look to the stars, holding the nation and the world in their hearts but at the same time we need down-to-earth people who can do serious and trying work.
In a definite sense, a country's power and prestige isn't only a reflection of its economic power but also a reflection of its people's quality and morality. Moreover, I think the latter is actually more important in the long-term.
I have just got home and seen the news. Fantastic job by all.
I noticed in the BBC report Mr Pun VC recieves a paltry 132 pounds a month pension which is woefully inadequate, so I would like to make a proposal. I will match his monthly pension and am looking for another 9 Arrsers to do the same (come on guys its peanuts), at least for the next 12 months, so that this true hero can live a comfortable life that he has earned in this country. It may just shame this awfull government into action on behalf of better and deserving men.
I'm sure PtP through his good offices can arrange for the money to go to the fine Gentleman when he arrives. What say you?
Count me in. I just spent that celebrating tonight!!!

I cannot match that but will you except a lesser monthly amount?
