the roumer at the time was that customs and exercise spent two whole days searching the avres for duty fee booze an fags . Dont know if that was true coz i was in 31 AES at the time .

When you re-enact the inevitable massacre scenes featuring British soldiers , can you at least try to get the extras to shrink their berets and stuff balled up newspaper in their webbing ? It just adds to the realism .
The other thing others always get wrong is the blokes playing soldiers are far too old , the average tom is about 19 , not 35.

So 40 years later it all just becomes a piece of TV junk so that you creatures can flog air-time to personal injury lawyers, go-compare and boots. (You're welcome BTW)
A king was asked to describe a happy man and he replied: "A man that I do not know and a man that does not know me."

It'll be another UTV republican grief-whorefest, probably to be aired after "UTV Live & Gaelic Football at 6"

I think they were Cent AVRE's rather than tanks. The word was that the barricades were booby trapped and the AVRE with the dozer blade was needed to break through whilst protecting the crew. The fact that they were tracked vehicles was the emotive issue.

I've still got my old beret that I wore in Northern Ireland. You can rent it off me for a gazzillion quid. I want it back though. Only problem is Motorman was a year before I got there!
I was a good runner in the mob. I alway's liked to think I could get out of trouble quicker than what I got into it!
