Unfortunately, i cannot come on here and try and disguise the fact that we were really poor today, and got our just desserts...Nothing! Liverpool were the better team on the day and gained a deserved victory. Not even the the refs trammeled vision in allowing Carragher and Rodrigues to stay on the field can excuse our players lack of fight. As i have stated before, we are going to struggle in the future unless we invest properly now! Any title this season would be a short term cover up job, which i would prefer to lose out on, if it meant long term success later. Just look at the quality of the players today? Carrick seemed so far out of his depth in midfield, i'm amazed he wasn't playing in flippers and snorkel, which judging by his display today he may well have been. Rooney is a shadow of the player he was, his antics earlier on this season have definitely affected his form. I suspect that his signing of the new contract is a prelude to his departure in the summer, to guarantee that we get top dollar from any potential buyers. On the up side, Smalling is definitely one for the future, and is coming on great guns, he played well today and will learn from the experience i'm sure! Glassback may struggle to get his place back in the side. Fergie made a mistake with his selection today, by playing with just two in centre midfield, one of which was Carrick nuff said!! Dalglish opted for three, and Liverpool bossed that area of the field. The upshot of all this is that we deserved nothing more than we got today...The better team won!!!! Bah humbug!!!

What a strange weekend it was for us Reds. A miserable Saturday followed by Arse being held by Liverpool on Sunday.
Firstly, and it chokes me to say it..."Well done Berties", you deserved your victory on Saturday and can now look forward to a desrved jolly at Wembley. That said, i think Stoke will give you a pretty tough game in the final, their performance and victory over the yonners was emphatic to say the least. However, you should have more than enough to see them off if you play anywhere near to form. My acceptance of Siddy's win against us in the semi final, was very much tempered by Liverpools draw with the Arse yesterday. Has it won us the title? Not yet imho, because we still have to play some difficult game beforehand. We need to win tomorrow night at Newcastle to keep the pressure on the gunners. Spurs can play their part by taking some more points off them on Wednesday, we shall see? The upshot of all this is that it is ours to throw away. Oddly it's not the upcoming Arse or Village people game that should worry us, because they know what they should/have to do in those big games. No it's the so called easier games where we could slip up. Tomorrow night is a prime example, in that Liverpools fine efforts on our behalf yesterday, will be for nought if we then take our eye off the ball at St James's. Everton will also be a tough game even though it's at home, as they have picked up a bit of form lately and are playing well. So the title will not be ours unless we do our own business first. Our league is one of the most honest in the world, and all opponents will play out of their skins to try and prevent us from lifting the title, which is how it should be! We will have to earn it by our own efforts. So with that in mind, i'll hang fire on any title celebrations until we have actually been given the trophy. As for Europe...Schalke will be a real test for us, as they have been superb in the CL this year. If the truth be known i suspect that both of us will be playing for a place in the abbetoir, as i cannot see either of us beating Barca...But stranger things have happened, so i suppose all things are possible??? Or maybe that's the wish being master of the thought?Come Mrs Gargery, let us have a taste of that savoury pork pie and see if we may do it some justice!!!

19 titles achieved, and the league record for what it's worth is ours. But in all honesty i've been decidedly underwhelmed this term. Perhaps it's the manner in which we won it that mithers me? I can't say we've been particularly explosive or entertaining this season, and we certainly haven't played with our normal panache. But that's me being a bit churlish i suppose? At least we've won it, so i shall content myself with that and hope we play some better football on the way to our 20th title next season! Besides, there are plenty of clubs who would give their eye teeth to be in our position as Champions, and we've still got a trip to Wembley to come, so here's hoping for a better result than 2009!!! Happy Days!!!

Good old Barca. Man United almost upset Str8bloke's "Law of Top Class Soccer" namely;
"That team will win which contains fewest Englishmen."

Well the new season is three games old and already the trophies are being divied up between the Manchester teams, if you believe the press that is? Yes it has been a pretty impressive start for both us and the Berties, but it hardly warrants some of the giddy comments coming out of the media. Besides the league never starts to pan out properly until ten games have been played, and as such any table gives a false impression of where each team is really at. Liverpool have had a decent start and could well be in the shake up for the title aswell. The Village people are still major contenders as usual, whilst Wolves i would imagine are suffering from vertigo. The Arse are struggling, and Wenger looks like a broken man just now, but that could be easily remedied by a couple of decent late signings. As such I do think that this seasons league will be very close run thing.

And so another season passes, and this one has been ultimately unsuccessful for us? But that said, i am surprisingly not as mithered about the Berties replacing us as champions as i thought i would be. Perhaps it's because i am actually quite pleased by the way we pushed them all the way, and kept them honest? Even though our team was quite poor for much of the season, we kept it going and gave them a real scare. And in all fairness, had we won it this season it would in reality have been only papering over some very large cracks in our squad, which hopefully we can remedy by making some decent signings this summer? We shall see what happens?? In the meantime...Well done City, you deserved to be champions this season having played the best football overall, but we will as usual be back next year...Now never let us mention this again!!!
