Re: Slingsby takes off again
Now now ladies!
I have a trip to Germany planned for the Xmas markets when I get back, also the Lake District for some winter camping, Belgrade around March and the Great North Run 2009.
If they can be spared, I'm available to take a bear with me on any of these trips.
Will forward more photos when I can, I have one of Horsa in his dessies and Para helmet against a white background as requested.

Meet M/Cpl Amy Soldier, she'll be on her way to help out by augmenting the ranks of the Royal Bear Corps. She'll be on exchange. Here's the story of her creator: http://www.army.forces.gc.ca/LFAA_HQ/stories/teddy.htm

Your M/Cpl appears to be half naked from the waist down Niner.

Trousers are for humans... besides that is not naked it's fur coat...(this is getting bizarre addressing someone named tiger about a bear...)

Re: Slingsby takes off again
Blimey! How these bears breed.
Maybe this is the solution to the shortage of trained service personnel - we'll send bears to the DRC!And this you can see is the bolt. The purpose of this
Is to open the breech, as you see. We can slide it
Rapidly backwards and forwards: we call this
Easing the spring. And rapidly backwards and forwards
The early bees are assaulting and fumbling the flowers:
They call it easing the Spring.
They call it easing the Spring: it is perfectly easy
If you have any strength in your thumb: like the bolt,
And the breech, and the cocking-piece, and the point of balance,
Which in our case we have not got; and the almond-blossom
Silent in all of the gardens and the bees going backwards and forwards,
For today we have naming of parts.

Re: Slingsby takes off again
Afternoon all! I have ventured the 17 miles south to Lerwick to have access to the internetty thingy! C/Sgt Burra is safely back in the cottage and well out of the reach of savage bull terrier jaws ... methinks?
I have come into the discussion late but Burra is definately a chap ... no t!ts you see. Apparantly they retract their manly tackle when not in use so it's not visible ... bit like me up here at the moment!!!! I will be keeping him up here until my return sooth which will be around about 17th (was going to be later but I may need to travel to Estonia/Finland/Sweden and other points cold on 19th). As I will be driving along the M6 to escape the lawless north would it be possible to RV with Chris and handover Burra in person ... that way we don't end up with another bear MIP!
Totally agree with the dessies and C/Sgt Burra has informed me his first name is Sandy (good old Scottish name with desert connection). As for the highland connection with Shetland, as far as I can find out the local TA are RLC and the bear isn't fat enough to be badged accordingly. Two possible options are that he be kitted out as a highlander complete with kilt (in dessies?) or that he be badged Anglian for the Viking connection?
Apparantly I was a twat for my whole military career so I may as well live there now that I'm a fat civvy :D

Re: Slingsby takes off again
Thanks for the update, Kev.
I'll try and manage the handover by email with you a bit later on.

Re: Slingsby takes off again
OK, 2-way comms re-established with the Shanghai Bearer [ARRSE user-name still unknown/forgotten
]
Sandy-Boots, please check email from sgt.slingsby for the forwarding address for HOTSPUR.
Rapid movement needed, the Bear has to be at an office on the south coast before Friday [and earlier is better, for in-house cash collecting!].

Re: Slingsby takes off again
Horsa update 3: Horsa still maintaining a high operational tempo, visiting his AAC oppos with the Apaches, and deploying on the ground via both seaking and Chinook (albeit safely stowed away in my Bergen). He is also due to make a TV appearance due to some clever product placement, (sat next to me during filming for some forthcoming Channel 5 documentary). Stories and phots also look likely to appear in service publications and some local newspapers but it's wait out on that at the moment. In the process of making a video of his exploits to go with the photos for the website, so any ideas on a suitable soundtrack would be appreciated, funny looks and donations still coming my way daily. Futher updates when anything of note happens.
Cheers, MLP and Horsa.

Well done Cpl HORSA ... glad you're keeping the Bearer nice and busy!
Please ensure your beret is tidy for the TV bit!
