I like the way that he had to do his audition in his combats and t-shirt, then drove back in a landrover to give the lads the good news about getting through (must have a very understanding MTO as i would have thought it was an illegal detail myself), was nice the way that they stayed on parade waiting for him to find out if he had done ok.........
Without his seatbelt on (or shirt or head-dress, wouldn't be surpised if he had been smoking as well)!!! Good look to the boy tho', and after Ms Minogues comments then he should ask for an intro to her older sister (she must be gagging for it now after getting rid of the frog)!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, cigarette in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE"!!
This is a good idea - at least it shows a human side to the Army. When I was in, most civvies were surprised when they found out you got weekends and evenings off
It's good publicity and I'm sure the lads in his unit are happy to have something to wind him up about, too.
As per S.O.P I am jumping in to these threads quite late.
I saw the the squaddie on X-Factor on saturday also. Thought he was ok...nothing particularly special.
As for calling him a bullet dodger, I have met plenty people throughout the army who run off for months on end to pursue activities from a diverse range of activities to ski-ing for a season in France to playing musical instruments. This boy has done 2 tours in Iraq...more than a lot of of people on here I reckon so cut him a bit of slack and let him enjoy the experience.
He obviously had the support of his unit...would be good publicity for the Army as a whole I reckon as well.
