A friend of mine worked was attached to "them" a few years back and the nutter quotient was very high. One bloke phoned every couple of days, trying to get thru to the CO. The Staff Assistant would intercept the call and listen to this eejit wittering on with stuff like "I'm holed up in a very dangerous place, I just want to let everyone that we'll get thru this" or "I'm just booking in, tell the Colonel that everything's going fine". Bloody wierdo. Presumably they stuck him on answerphone for a laugh.
"I firmly believe that we should not march into Baghdad. To occupy Iraq would instantly shatter our coalition, turning the whole Arab world against us and make a broken tyrant into a latter-day Arab hero. Assigning young soldiers to a fruitless hunt for a securely entrenched dictator and condemning them to fight in what would be an unwinnable urban guerrilla war." George Bush Snr, A World Transformed, 1998

I bought a military watch. It didn't tell me the time, it told me to get my hair cut.

Of course not, he's blown OPSEC. Completely ruined any chance he had of that Underwater Knife-fighting Instructors Course.

    Shame, such a shame.

PS It's a relief to find a thread that doesn't mention That Woman.
We need people who look to the stars, holding the nation and the world in their hearts but at the same time we need down-to-earth people who can do serious and trying work.

In a definite sense, a country's power and prestige isn't only a reflection of its economic power but also a reflection of its people's quality and morality. Moreover, I think the latter is actually more important in the long-term.

The great question that has never been answered, and which I have not yet been able to answer, despite my thirty years of research into the feminine soul, is "What does a woman want?"

Setting unbelievably low standards since 1960 and consistently failing to achieve them at every given opportunity.........recommended for a commission!!
