The same could happen this year, but during the Olympic games! The squaddies might have to earn their lucre! A body count + plenty of Plod vs Army confusion/cross purposes and red on red false fires is a possibility. The SA80II has shown that it can work in the dust of Afghanistan. Now it will have to prove that it can work in a city environment.

Also not implausible is a Middle East war starting up during the Olympics: Syria/Iran/Lebanon/Hizbollah/Hamas/Israel/Jordan/Saudi/PLO/Turkey/Egypt etc.

East London & the Olympic stadium area is majority Muslim.

Anglo-Muslims rioting on behalf of their Muslim brothers is not a pretty sight, and the squaddies could have their hands filled there too!
