Back when Warrior was MCV80 I was shown the fibreglass spall liner and thought this was a fab idea. Fast forward to the occupation of Iraq and the Yanks, while investigating protection for soft skins, found that fibreglass wasn't actually that good for stopping fragments.

To be fair, I'd imagine Jeremy Clarkson himself (arch-nemisis of the Reliant Robin and caravans) wouldn't mind a cabby in this particular Robin.
He might then chase it down in a Chally, or Apache. But he'd probably like a cabby.
Maybe a reshow of the Beach Landing that seems to have been removed from YouTube.

Composites are actually pretty good at stopping frags - on a weight-for-weight basis.
The glass fibre spall liners in most APC/IFV are pretty good at doing what they do - i.e. reducing the behind-armour debris cone angle from an overmatching shaped-charge penetration. You could get better outright fragment stopping performance if you replaced 20mm of glass fibre with 20mm of steel - but that is pretty irrelevant when you've ben pentrated by an SC with a residual penetration of 200+mm. In this case, the composite liner absorbs the lower energy fragments in the spall cone, without generating any significant debris of its own when the jet itself passes through.I'm Chuck Norris, and I approve these detainee handling techniques...

Oh, and as for the Reliant Robin - if we did buy any, some smart-arrse would decide that you need a a combination of A, B, C+E and H license to drive the ruddy thing - plus a 2 week conversion course, and a further 5 weeks if you intend to use the outboard...
