There's actually been an influx of Somali people making tracks back to the Mog recently to open businesses, property is cheap as you can imagine and any business that does set up has a captive market where there is actually quite a bit of money to be spent and made. There is now even a dry cleaning business IIRC.

It's ever so good is the World Service, actually sending people to those places and asking whats going on before making comments about it in the social media.

It wasn't fighting that drove them out it was ensuing poverty and starvation, while it may still be a war torn shithole it's now a war torn shit hole that has wealth trickling in to it via the new economy spawned by piracy and also the presence of AU troops who still need to buy beer and tabs.

Excuse my ignorance at this godly hour, we keep hearing the same crib card details: their Country is unsafe to live in....

So how are the rest of the Somalians managing to cope?? They get on with life, irrespective of their own personal problems.

The same goes with most of the other Nationalities, I can't go back back as my Country is too unsafe...well the rest of your fellow citizens are bloody coping!!

And don't start me on this right to a proper family life drivel..

To be honest they may well have a right to a normal life but thats in their country not here, perhaps they should sue their own government to force the issue. I'd be happy to send a few of our lawyers along to ensure that they get decent representation. Not free of course, I'm sure we can find the cash for a one way ticket!

I'm a bit more laid back about all this than many on here, in fact I'm probably one of Ex Colonials most derided 'handwringers' but there is one thing that gets right up my crack which is the 'red carpet' attitude to claimants of all types that Govt Deps take, as opposed to the way the rest of us are treated.

By that I mean if you ring your local council it is 'Please chose from the following options - if you have a benefit query press 1...'

NO - benefits should be option bloody 28, well behind planning, making a payment, bins etc.

I've just phoned my lot tring to sort out a recycling thing and ended up on hold and being passed about on the machine for well over five minutes before I got to speak to someone.

Out of interest I rang back, selected option one and Pow! - straight through.

If someone is due a benefit, fine, claim it but don't expect to be treated like Royalty and passed to the front of the queue.

It is an attitude that sucks.

I thought we were going to stop all this silly housing of benefit claiments in expensive houses...

Can't we just build a block of flats with some 1 - 4 bedroom 'accomdodation pods'. They get put in the pod, which has a sitting room, and bedrooms. In the base of the flats is a 'free kitchen' seving free bangers and mash and fish and chips.

Also in there would be a 'school' to teach the immigrants about British traditions, culture, language and law.

Oh, the best bit. a 12 ft electrified, barbed wire fence around the whole thing... no certificate of completion from the 'school' no getty out.

Once out, they get a 3 bed room council house. or smaller, and a portion of road to sweep. No sweeping no money.

And they're on parole, so any naughtiness will result in a deportation.
