I'll arrange for Jarrod to be there to help out.
I didn't say it was your fucking fault, I said I was blaming you.

Now don't be a party pooper. You know I can do this on my own. Btw are you still booked for 0900 Fri?

    Ah, mon petit pauvre soldat.
Those days are gone. IF you had arrived earlier, you might have been a beneficiary of the largesse so generously distributed by our Esteemed OC. Sadly, we are now semi-organised, and have both an Adj and a pony. So a soldat you shall be, until the light of the CO shines upon you. Or a dead soldat, of course.

And do, please, look up the correct spelling of Marshal. It really irritates the intelligencia.

Now, whilst you still have breath in your body … quickly, now, I hear approaching Ammo Boots, 13 studs for the use of …

… save your soul and tell me about your scam. This outfit doesn't run on batteries - it needs CASH.
And please don't try the Daily Mail ploy - everyone knows that's a joke, and doesn't take it seriously [apart from the pictures of Kate's bum].

I couldn't possibly involve you in my blackmail and extortion set up...how would I survive on a soldier's miserable pay. Sorry, I'd rather be a rich soldier thank you.

Well done, CS. Have a permanent promotion to substantive LT.

Please note the "permanent" … you went from -zero to Temp/A/LT in no time at all. This may be your ceiling.
I've always found that being a middle ranker (sp?) has suited me. High enough to not be given the totally shite jobs, but not high enough to have to worry about the numpties under me totally fucking it up and exposing my true level of talent. Result. What's "substantive" though?
In my 50's and thus a grumpy old man. Just so long as you realise that I'm right and you're wrong, we'll get along just fine, OK?

Your call, soldat Imminent Corpse. You could have done well in the AFL - you have the balls to have succeeded. Promotion, salary, wine and the unfettered use of Betty and Ratched were available. But you chose the hard path. For that I commend you [slightly].

Let the tragedy of a wasted opportunity unfold … Biggles, the comfy chair please. And the cushion, of course.

Substantive means "Really, yes, you are" as opposed to "Well, we'll see how you do" or "When a real vacancy turns up".

There was an old RAF wg cdr, many decades ago, who was OC Admin. He was the most senior wg cdr in the RAF, but had been passed over - a lot. When asked how he felt, he said, "Content. If it's work, I give it to my staff. If it's a decision, I give to the Stn Cdr." Eric was a lovely gentleman.

I do like watching those with a false sense of their importance climbing the greasy pole. It's so satisfying when they come back down it at high velocity.

Eric sounds like a good 'un.
