Surely 'gated' means the whole regiment's stuck on camp (usually because there's been a riot or a local's been kicked to death for looking at a squaddie's pint) whereas RoPs means one man's parading at the guardroom four times a day to show them how nice your twos are and how well you pack your webbing?

I once saw a lad on Restriction of Priveleges getting a bollocking off a WOII during his 1800hrs inspection at the guardroom. It was for the state of his shirt which had "more creases than my wife's fanny!" according to that orderly officer. How that lad kept a straight face I will never know.

"All gone Pete Tong" is rarely heard these days my way, nor is gucci to describe some great bit of kit.

Licked does not mean nails either, nor does ninja as seen in the example below.

"I am licked out on this tab mate"

"Yeah, me too, still in clip from last night's lash"

"Yeah, I dunno why we have come this way, this route is nails"

"Ah well, the new boss is ninja at tabbing and doesn't mind doing it after a night of smash"

"He doesn't look that ninja now, he is hanging out"

See, all have a slightly different meaning but all make up the rich tapestry of Squaddie Slang
Nothing can stop me now because I don't care anymore

We used to shout 'red arse' or 'REDDDARRRRSEEE' at anyone with less service - ie a CROW along with
    Conker bollocks,
    Chicken Dick,

There was a SG WO2 called 'empty metal locker heed'
People sleep soundly in their beds because rough men stand on street corners ready to do violence on thier behalf.

splitarse is still going isnt it?
what the world needs is an enema, make that two - just to give it a sense of purpose.

US electoral democracy is just a structured system of legalised bribery.

a senior Chinese officer has said, “all the great nations in the world own aircraft carriers – they are symbols of a great nation”. That’s why China has just commissioned its first. By the same token, to opt for a “carrier gap” of some years is to abandon your responsibilities.
