We need people who look to the stars, holding the nation and the world in their hearts but at the same time we need down-to-earth people who can do serious and trying work.
In a definite sense, a country's power and prestige isn't only a reflection of its economic power but also a reflection of its people's quality and morality. Moreover, I think the latter is actually more important in the long-term.

Artillery - they had some good toys. Not get married and enjoy life fully.
Dishonour before death!!
My Service Career and work ethic - Too much a poof for the SAS, too lazy for P Coy, too sea sick for the Marines, too inept for anything vaguly glamourous, but not too scared to ask that fat MT lass to dance down the bop.

Would love to have been an RAF nurse. I was in RAF Wroughton as a teenager and the RAF nurse's uniform was all sparkly white with white plastic looking shoes and starched little hat...............the dull Army grey thing wasn't such an inspiration.
