You say that but have you seen the amount of foreigners who sit in those cafes around Amsterdam? There's loads of non Dutchies in there so they must be making up for a pretty decent amount of their client base. And that's just to one part of one country. It's not just Brits who go over there the Europeans head across very frequently as well. I know a Belgian bloke who told me the amount of time he wastes trying to find decent weed costs him so much time and agro (clearly he's a stoner who puts a high monetary value on his spare time) that he saves money and hassle by just driving to Amsterdam and stocking up.

I reckon the hash cafe owners are right to be worried.

I'm well aware of Amsterdam my partners sister used to live there, we visited regularly.

We must have about 1.5 litres (literally) of morphine syrup in our fridge, plus Methadone for when SWMBO's fibromyalgia pain gets too bad.

I didn't partake during my working time in The Netherlands but I find their laid back attitude of as long as it's not harming anyone else fill your boots spectacularly refreshing!

I also particularly enjoyed the gay parade in Amsterdam last year and surprisingly, no difficult questions from the 4 and 6 year old kids, they just wanted pink flags and balloons...

I believe one of the big problems they are trying to clear up is the control of the coffee shops and knocking shops seems to have drifted into the hands of the Russian mafia and other organised crime, this is a shame as it's one of the main arguments I've always used for the legalisation of drugs etc. is that it can be kept regulated and safe by the govt. and if it's illegal it will be run by criminals... it seems it still somehow ends up in criminal hands anyway.
