I believe this episode was cut-out of the published book and may possibly still be read in the the original posts.
P'haps A_S is going to bring out the "new unexpurgated edition" and get us to stump up another twenty-five nicker for wagtails we've already read!
Don't be fooled by pix of fallen-down masonry - there's a sapper's palace/swamp being built in the allgrave on the back of stumpy's antics.
A glossary for the uninitiated and septic readers may be useful and perhaps a map for younger readers who've never patrolled bog-side.

- 07-08-2012, 07:59 #1436And this you can see is the bolt. The purpose of this
Is to open the breech, as you see. We can slide it
Rapidly backwards and forwards: we call this
Easing the spring. And rapidly backwards and forwards
The early bees are assaulting and fumbling the flowers:
They call it easing the Spring.
They call it easing the Spring: it is perfectly easy
If you have any strength in your thumb: like the bolt,
And the breech, and the cocking-piece, and the point of balance,
Which in our case we have not got; and the almond-blossom
Silent in all of the gardens and the bees going backwards and forwards,
For today we have naming of parts.

"If however you offer to moderate you may be a sanctimonious, unfunny pissflap to your heart's content."
Some comments are allegedly "very very nasty and uncalled for."
