I once, many years ago, took a course with a young woman who was a police officer in Connecticut. She told me she had been driving down Interstate I95 she saw a bridge collapse just ahead of her and a large 18 wheel truck go over and down. She stopped and put her car, lights flashing, across two of the three lanes, got out of the car and flashed her torch at an approaching car. The VW did not slow and as it passed her the passenger, a youth of Hispanic heritage, extended his hand out the window with his middle finger raised and she heard him saying "Fcuk you, peeeeg". There was a brief silence as the car was airborne and then a crash as it landed in the riverbed.
