So why does electricity seem to travel so fast?

The action of electricity over distance using wires is fast because the electrons are already in the wire waiting to move and move through the entire circuit at once. Much like a pipe totally filled up with marbles. When an extra marble is placed in one end and marble almost instantaneously drops out the other no matter how long the pipe. The effect of electric current at a distance is almost instantaneous (it cannot be instant) due to the domino effect of the electron charge carriers already filling the entire length of the conductive circuit.

Actually there is a little delay between real dominoes but imagine them touching
each other shoulder to shoulder and you will get the picture.

In other words - there's no way that waffling twat could notice the power outage, get out of his chair, walk outside in good time to notice a big blue electric arc in the distance.

Only Muhammed Ali could turn the light switch off and get into bed before the room was dark.

Your theory is excellent if the aircraft only caused one arc when it struck the wires. In reality, youre talking bollox.

The cable at the top is an earthing cable, not live, amateur grid technicians, I shit'em

Edit: Had the earth cable got close enough to the supply line, they would have needed more than T-cut to polish out the scratches.

Er, that's doctrinally impure. The DAAvn line is that wire cutters encourage pilots to fly recklessly.

Very much so. The fight we had to try and convince them that a WSPS was required on Wildcat.... Their attitude was akin to the blimps during the first world war who refused to give the RFC parachutes citing that 'all the chaps will be jumping out of the aircraft for no reason whatsoever....baaaaaa!'

I heard from a mate thats sister goes out with a bloke who has a couisin in "them" that it was actually shot down by members of the "Alton Water Massive" a splinter group of the Ipswich Taliban using a pocket rocket! The power lines were just taken out on the descent and used as a cover story as to not panic the nation and mobilise the EDL fire teams.
