The Battle lasted 17mins and resulted in a resounding win for the Argylls.
Sweaties fighting amongst themselves whilst the English decided to follow more dangerous and rewarding pursuits and go whoring instead does not make for a resounding win.

    The Russia V Berwick-upon-Tweed war?

Berwick-upon-Tweed was officially at war with Russia for 110 years as the border town frequently changed hands between England and Scotland over the centuries it was usually referred to as a separate entity in all State documents. At the outbreak of the Crimean War, Britain declared war on Russia in the name of Britain, Ireland, Berwick-upon-Tweed and all British Dominions. But when the war ended two years later in 1856, the Paris Peace Treaty omitted Berwick. So Berwick was technically at war with Russia until 1966 when a Soviet official, made aware of the situation, visited the town to declare peace.
Timing is everything. If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late. If you're late, you're fucked.

That, Sir, is truly world class trivia.

Not particularly obscure (but you don't hear that much of it, probably because it wasn't that successful), but always liked it because of the name:

War of Jenkins' Ear - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It also has the distinction of inspiring 'Rule Britannia'

Excellent stuff. Now that's what this thread is about.
The firefly haunts were lighted yet,
As we scaled the top of the parapet,
But the east grew pale to another fire,
As our bayonets gleamed by the foeman’s wire,
And the sky was tinged with gold and grey,
And under our feet the dead men lay,
    Stiff by the loop-holed barricade
Food of the bomb and the hand grenade,
Still in the slushy pool and mud –
Ah, the path we came was a path of blood,
When we went to Loos in the morning.

Although not exactly a war but a short confrontation/border dispute.
Took place in Canada in the 1850's between the British Empire and USA.
Yanky farmer slaughtered a poor innocent Canadian pig and things esculated from there. No human blood spilt during the entire episode although the US came away with the disputed land and a few bacon sarnies.
Happened on one of the San Juan islands off the coast of Washington state, there still bits of the Royal Marine barracks there, the yanks call it British Camp, I've some photos knocking around somewhere as well from a visit I made back in the 90s. Well kept military cemetery as well iirc.

I watched one of those 23mm quad barreled guns firing off the back of a landcruiser on youtube. Every time it fired it nearly rolled the ute.
    High on life. And glue.
