I did a stint as a gunner and even spent some time with the State Ceremonial lot at Collingwood, but realised fairly early on that gunnery was only funnery if you had a very short attention span and counted headbutting stuff as one of your primary hobbies.

I bet you have a gash tat that says 'If it flies it dies' don't you.
WE? are WEs still referred to as Pinky Faggots? Did you have to get the mattress surgically removed during your time as a Gunner?

I am sure you realise my part of ship from my user name, but, if not there is 'baby sick butties for four o clockers today.......

Careful, shippers, keep the stories toned down, we don't want the pongoes to think our grey steel messengers of death are some sort of floating lunatic asylum, let's keep that to ourselves shall we?

Tri-service, surely it must be purple. (The kind you find in a second-hand store.)

Surely the Mate a lots are better at drinking than playing rugger?
It all went Pete Tong when the burly agressor wanna be squaddies types stoped throwing those little cannonettes over walls etc. The wheels really fell off the limber there.

At least the French navy have a half decent motto.
" To the water, it is time!"

Or as they say in France:
    "A leau, c'est l'heure!!!!"

You had four o clockers on a ship at sea as Tea wasn't served until 7.30, nine o clockers in harbour or barracks when tea was served at 5

Only time I came across four o'clockers was when under training at St Vincent. Never had it at sea.

WE used to be Weapons & Electrical Dept consisting of Tiffys and Gunnery rates who looked after Turrets, magazines, missile launchers and on the Eagle the bomb lifts.

We had a PO Aircrewman attached to our AAC sqn in the late 80's. He turned up on CO's parade one morning in all of his blue kit.

The RSM just looked at him and screamed - 'Get that shagging slidy foot off my square".
Still makes me smile when I think about it, he was a nice bloke, the PO, despite getting me monged on Whisky and IrnBru at about 1030 one Christmas morning.
Cry havoc and let slip the frogs of war!
