Emperor Mong gate guard. At Mongstad.

Grave of Capt. L.E. Queripel V.C., 10th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment. (with brother of Sapper D.)
Taken at night in the Oosterbeek/Arnhem C.W.G.C.
A very sobering place to be. Especially then.
Loads of questions still remain:
He was first buried in the township of Renkum (several km's away from his last action near/north of the railway tunnel just east of Wolfheze).
So: was he captured, died of wounds, finished off by a very pissed of Gerry, or what?
Where did he actually die?
Fact is, he was a very brave man who sacrifcied himself for his men.

God rest his soul. I wonder if some of the POs on here should go for a wee trip over there to see what it is they aspire to do. I used to take my Troop fairly regularly to remind them what the business of Soldiering was about, even for a bunch of Reserve Scaleys. To eat well in England one must have breakfast three times a day
