I went down to Surrey yesterday to help my father celebrate his 91st birthday.

He carved this badge during the war and it has enjoyed pride of place on his kitchen wall ever since.

As dear old Dad used to say "a wise man may choose the wrong wall covering but only a fool fails to apostrophise".

Excellent choice. He can emulsion or paint it any damn colour he pleases.
I didn't say it was your fucking fault, I said I was blaming you.

Is the ladder the sparky is sitting on not earthed or is it a trick of the photograph?

    Markintime -

Your dad is a talented man. Tell him birthday greeting from across the pond.

Wall covering looks like either Lincrusta or Anaglypta. Very popular in the Victorian Era, still made today in the UK. I thought of doing that in my dining room but the stuff is very costly today.

The older generations used to do more with craft projects. I had an old great aunt, Aunt Kate who was USN CPO during WW i. I have many nice things she made in different media that I love having. Also have a copper/brass umbrella stand made by a great uncle who was a USN sailor in the Great White Fleet cruise (1909).
