I have met para types in The Trafalgar in Short Street who were jolly nice. I wouldn't do their job.
I don't know if it is an urban myth, but a wedge of paras were taking the piss out of some QAs, until one of them pointed out the difference between QAs and paras;
'What's that then, split arse?'
'We went on Desert Storm, and you didn't.'E-Tool counselling;
When E-Mailing isn't enough.

from that fantastic piece of BBC propaganda in the 80's and from memory - a crap hat was a civvy recruit who hadnt earnt his beret.
most depots required you to earn the beret so its not really anything special IMO.
the paras being speshal though I suppose it meant a lot to those who never got to find out just what it was spot did with the big red ball because they were too busy flushing speccy kids heads down the toiletwhat the world needs is an enema, make that two - just to give it a sense of purpose.
US electoral democracy is just a structured system of legalised bribery.
a senior Chinese officer has said, “all the great nations in the world own aircraft carriers – they are symbols of a great nation”. That’s why China has just commissioned its first. By the same token, to opt for a “carrier gap” of some years is to abandon your responsibilities.
