Vets today... Overnight my Mouse developed breathing problems... He has to go back tomorrow for x-rays to get a clearer diagnosis. I was told that sudden onset breathing problems are usually very bad news. I'm trying to be optimistic. He's had two injections and I have the fun of giving him a pill in the morning.
There was a bright part to the visit- the vet complained about my cat. Apparently he is "too happy". She was trying to listen to his heart and lungs but he wouldn't stop purring.

Magrat,hope puss is OK.
The same thing happened to Orbit a few months before he died,turns out it was renal failure so his little body was retaining water,last vet I saw a few months before thay told me he was overweight but the new vet diagnosed it properly.
(I switched vets as I wasn't too happy with them trying to flog me expensive diet food,and their cattery wasn't the best,the new vet was much better & closer to home,as was the cattery I use now)
Vet prescribed Fortekor & a diaretic to remove the fluids.One tell tale sign is increased thirst & peeing.At one stage I had 2 litter trays in use when I went to work for him.

Mouse has perked up a bit today, probably down to the two injections yesterday. I know he's still poorly though, because he took his tablet without complaint this morning.
Thank you for giving me someone to talk to

That's good news,try crushing the tablet up & mixing it with some pate',I have to do that with Cinders to get her to take her Fortekor when I'm at ASSISI. If you're on Facebook,the's a good cat site there called Purrs;
