With reference to the Firearms Certificate, does this mean that as long as he holds this peice of paper he can go tooled up around the streets of Britain?

Also he has no precious CP training, all seems dodgy to me.

Again, I apologise for the sketchy info. Just don't want to see my mate getting lumped with some tool who's a danger to himself and others if put in charge of anything more dangerous than a pea shooter.
    No CP training . . . . . Not THEM or ex-THEM, or Trillbied Squirrels . . . . Got a licence to be tooled up on UK streets . . . . . nah!

248 suggests he joined in the 80's or early 90's.

His firearms certificate, if he's walking tooled, will be one that lists specifically Section 5 firearms, their names, types, the amount of ammo he can carry, hold and buy, as well as the circumstances in which he can use/hold/store said firearms.

If it's not on his ticket, he's not the ticket. If he hasn't got one of those, he'll have to have some kind of Gobment card that says 'Naughty Boy - can do naughty things' on it. If he's got neither, he's a liar.

No memeber of the public is allowed to carry a fire arm in this country. As i'm sure we all know it's only Government personel that have the right to carry, without exception!!!

    He's f---ing larging it.

(may have one myself who's claiming to be ex "Blade" and now works as a Court prisoner escort, will keep you posted)

I think a very few people have a s.5 permit to carry a concealed firearm (a handgun no doubt) because of a past life which meant that there was a serious risk of retribution from the bad guys.

No doubt though, that the people who do have permits such as these, wouldn't let on to anybody but those who need to know or have authority to ask.

The last time I saw a s.5 permit it was signed by the Home Secretary, Jack Straw. ISTRC it has a laser etched coating to prevent photocopying or scanner duplicates being made, as the words, THIS IS A PHOTOCOPY will appear all over the copy!

Nice one, That answers a few questions.

The way it was explained to me was that he was focusing on this Firearms thing. That would draw attention away from any other shortcomings he may have.

So far he has not produced said certificate so maybe he has got it but more likley he has heard about that type of stuff in the Mess bar and decided 'I'll have me some of that'.

A brand new CP company would be just the type of place a strange little walt to ply his dodgy trade.

    Cheers all.

There are certain very specific situations where foreign and civil agents can carry (and no, by agent I don't mean James fucking Bond), but even then they obviously aren't allowed to trot down the street rocking something flashy out in the open.
If he's blagging he's got a secrut passy for spechul permishun, he's bullshitting. Would be interesting to call him up on it though.

Correct. Like RFD certificates, any company who has a section 5 permit, will only get one copy of the permit. Employees of that company, operating on company business will carry a photocopy as the original permit can't be in more than one place at once.

This often creates a bag of laughs when you get stopped by plod with a load of guns in the boot and a dodgy looking photocopy. :D

You might want to get your friend to find out if he's carrying when he meets him next then discretely call the police. It's extremely improbable that he's legally doing so. It's catching the nutters before they do something stupid that could prevent a Hungerford or Dunblane.

IIRC Michael Ryan used to take his legally held pistol to work in his waistband and show his colleagues. If they'd dobbed him in he wouldn't have been able to kill all those people and I might still be allowed to shoot target pistol. (And yes I know it was after Dunblane, but it was a cumulative effect)

    editted for spelling
Brigadier Bill Aldridge, commander of British forces in the South Atlantic, responded by saying: ‘I am not expecting to hand the islands over to anybody and therefore put us in a position to have to retake the islands.’

Just given all the info to my mate. He's gonna pass it on as soon as.

I'll keep the info coming as soon as I know.

More likley than not he'll get fcuked off at the high port.

Even if he has some CP background, you can't trust someone that larges it about carrying a pistol around the streets of Great Britain.

    Or can you.....
