Major has always been a dodgy rank.

What a very dodgy Dave. How on earth did he keep his commission after the 2007 conviction for sexual assault?

This arse was a clerk at 21 Engr Regt before being commissioned AGC, he was looked at "not close enough" for showing an unhealthy interest in kids back in early 90's. At least they have locked him up eventually, hope he gets a nice cell mate!!!!!!

Surely people wouldn't do that against their own mates! If so he deserves to be hanged - in his balls...

New him when he was at 43 Bde and although no one would have thought this of him at the time, suprisingly i'm not shocked. Always came over as a bit self obsessed.

He was my RAO 2003/2004 and was I thought was a really nice guy and would look after the guys who were in financial trouble etc, but now what an utter cnut. we served in Iraq in 2004 and was incharge of cash for the guys and paying the LECs etc, I wonder just how much money he got away with then.

You may have a point here. In the early eighties, my Dad did his last 2 years as a PSI at a TA unit. There was a Major who was on the mega fiddle with his expenses and claimed thousands saying that he was at such and such a TAC etc. My Dad ended up being one of the prosecution witnesses at his Court Martial but wasn`t called to give evidence because the Major pleaded guilty. He was fined and given loss of seniority. Should have been jailed and discharged in my view.
On the other side of the coin a mate of mine, a WO2 with 21 and half years service fiddled his travel expenses to a much lesser degree. He was made an example of, discharged with loss of pension.

Majority rank - shed loads of them about in 'career ceiling' mode, some will obviously have a sense of narcissistic sociopathy about them, right? World owes them something? Should have been promoted to Colonel by now? "Why can't you recognise how great I am?" Obviously this is only a tiny fraction, but in media terms, a lot of Majors have been caught on the criminal fiddle and prosecuted. If the Army was the private sector, a significant number of the very same Majors could have found themselves out on their arrse years before.

There does generally seem to be a 'softly, softly' approach to dealing with the same indiscretions committed bu an Orifice when compared to the punishment of an OR. Thats just life I suppose, but in real terms it could just be that extra little incentive to commit the crime if you know you can get a less severe punishment.

Glad you didn't say "simples", we'd have had to call out the monkeys.

    Slightly off topic

I know a civvie MOD worker done for the same

Over 30 counts of fraudulent claims

Accepted a civvie police caution for fraud
    Sacked by MOD
    Lost 2 appeals
Lost a 3rd civel service appeal
The union took it to civvie tribuneral
Their own lawyer said it was unwinable
They turned up at the tribuneral and walked away £25,0000 richer
Seems a good old fashioned sob story and the SIB losing your original paperwork works
We should remember the tremendous contribution of the Queen Mother to the war effort:
As the BBC pointed out, she 'bravely remained in London beside her husband' during the war.
This contrasts sharply with the actions of my grandfather who, on the declaration of war immediately left his wife and children and pissed off, first to France, then North Africa, Italy, France (again) and finally Germany.
The shame will always be with us.
