He could work in the council call centre, they never answer the phone anyway, so being asleep at his desk would not be picked up on.D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F.

I watched a documentary once about The Narcolepsy Society(?) and at their monthly meetings, they have to have three people to take the Minutes to avoid anything being missed due to nodding off.
I pissed myself laughing then and laugh out loud when I think of it today. It was the funniest piece of TV I've ever seen. :D

Drive a car with narcolepsy? Isn't that a tad dangerous?

Re: If this disabled man can get a job, why can't Whet?
All he has to do is find a job he likes - perhaps airline pilot isn't a good idea - apply for it, although he needs to have a realistic aspiration and knowledge of how his condition affects him - and any job.
Admittedly he'd have to find a job suited for his qualifications (if any) and then A/ see if the employer carries the 2 ticks symbol, B/ ensure his application process highlights his ABILITY to do the job - then when he has claimed the mandatory interview (cos he has the minimum qualification for the role)... Get interviewed and ensure he can present a typically cynical employer that he is the best and how to overcome the issue he has.
Look at http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Disabled...sandProgrammes for any options available to him - and apply for the funding for any alterations or support to the workplace etc. Blind the future employer with his shit-togetherness and impress them with his knowledge of the routes open to them if alterations are necessary..
He needs to talk to the Disability Employment Officer at Jobcentre plus too..
Before I hear the coughing in the background from all you mong hunters and biff kickers out there. I left the Army with epilepsy, which caused me to break my spine, which killed off not only one career but my marriage. But even with Epilepsy, spinal injury and wheelchair use, deafness in one ear from a 120mm boomin' off AND the recent effects of diabetes... I completed two degrees and have a reasonably paid job in local government.... Now, all he has to do is say - "what do I want to do?" and "where do I look for support if necessary?"
Rather than come on here and ask you lot!"Boys! You gotta learn not to talk to nuns that way!"
