    Plod walt jailed

Some days you wake and immediately start to worry. Nothing in particular is wrong, it's just the suspicion that forces are aligning quietly and there will be trouble ahead..... Formally known as Mucus, before I lost the log in....

Well two days of digging and searching in the general area and we still haven't found the cunting leak. Surely there must be technology more accurate than a grumpy old bloke in a yellow hi-vis coat, wielding a length of dowelling on a thread bobbin and claiming there may be a leak in the generic area known as "under there"?

What gets me is how these people feel the need to come out with the most farfetched stories and think they will get away with it.

what is the actuall legality of impersonating a member of the forces?
the few sources I can find only refer to it being an offence if you wear medals that you have not earned, or try to use it to gain entry to restricted areas (bases ect).
before anyone starts: I am not a soldier, and never have been
I am not a cadet, and never have been
I currently have no intention to join the regular army (although I'm not ruling out TA)

I do have an interest in all things millitary (purely academic) and a deep respect for all those who have and do serve.
I say all of this now, in case of future waltish behaviour (I have previous in this regard)

I don't think pretending to be anything is actually illegal until you actually try to use it for your own gain.

So, I think I can pretend to be plod, so long as I don't tell anyone what to do, and I can walt it up as an SAS ninja so long as I don't approach, say, army benevolent as such.

    Or am I wrong?

Hurtful though it may be, there's no offence of impersonating a soldier. Coppers do f*ck all for that reason.

Uniforms Act 1894: "It is an offence for any person not serving in HMF to wear without HM's permission the uniform of any of those forces., or any dress having the appearance, or bearing any of the regimental or other distinctive marks of any such uniform."

Using the uniform to gain admission to a restricted area is an offence under S1 Official Secrets Act 1920.

Wearing a uniform in order to bring contempt upon it is an offence under the Uniforms Act 1894.

Wearing an unearned decoration, badge, wound stripe or emblem authorised by the defence council, anything designed to look like the above, or claiming falsely to be entitled to any of the above is an offence under S197 Army and Air Force Acts 1955

Impersonate police is covered by the Police Act 1996.
