Discuss "I used to shoot people like you" at the The NAAFI Bar forum within the The Army Rumour Service website; I feel I must point out Mr Savage is a Marra, eh!
The past 60 ...
As a neutral and in the interests of fairness having served with both the RE and Para Regt I feel it only right to point out that the Royal Engineers are teeth arms and have carried out infantry roles from time-to-time, they have also recovered artillery pieces under heavy fire from time-to-time.
Both the RE and PR have very proud histories, the RE being awarded 55 Victoria Crosses and the Para Regt 5.

What on earth has the amount of VC's got to do with anything. Especially when you consider the size of RE to Para Regt and the fact that we have a short history. Remember, at one time VC's were pretty much given out like confetti compared to today. Not that i'm in any way demeaning the medal but it is a fact.

I wasn't knocking the Para Regt I was pointing out that they both have proud histories as evidenced by the individual courage shown by their members. It was also a rebuttal that only the infantry would have 'fought their way'. Have a look at some of the citations for some of the early VC's, they weren't all given out like spaghetti although I must admit it does seem a lot more difficult to win one these days.
Once again I see you say the Nazi Party is no more. The Nazis are very much alive throughout Europe and the Americas and Nazi ideology is around to this day. Interestingly the BNP is basically a socialist party that forwards policies on a Nationalist agenda so they are national socialists if not National Socialists.

So are we assuming this 82 year old Sapper is an infantry walt?
Given that if he is 82, he would have been born in 1927, making him 12 when the second world war started, and then 17 when it ended, who the feck was he shooting at 17?
Or are my maths well out?
Your maths are fine, he was probably called up at age 18 and was more than likely in the Pioneer Corps. He most likely thought about shooting a couple of contractors, most people have. Fucking walt, was Glasgow ever even bombed in the war, I know we were. Cnut.
BNP candidate Charlie Baillie, a Glasgow-born contractor, was there, waiting for his leader, mobile phone pressed to his head.
Mr Baillie was having mixed results whipping up support. Walking past was 82-year-old James Murray, a former Royal Engineer who saw service in the Second World War, fighting his way into Nazi German territory in the Allied advance at the end of the war.
"I used to shoot people like you," Mr Murray called cheerfully to Mr Baillie.
ive never loved the scots but i think shooting them might have been a bit much.
Although it has to be said that if England had attacked Scotland it may well have confused Mr Hitler.
Well it's not as if I haven't been shot at recently.
I take it I am to assume that because a 82 year old soldier who supposedly fought his way through Germany (even though not infantry) has the moral high ground on someone who believes that our country is being overun with immigrants.
If he'd spent the war hiding in a coal bunker in Portsmouth Charlie Baillie still would not be worthy to lick his boots.
