What sports?
I've just been having a conversation in the office here about the effect the British Empire has had on the world in terms of worldwide popular sports.
As in, if we didn't invent the sport, we certainly helped spread it around the world. And more often than not, at least gave it rules & regulations.
e.g. Football, Rugby, Tennis, Cricket, & Polo.
Now if we hadn't have had our empire, & say the French or Germans had, what sports would they have spread?
French - Speed (White) Flag Raising.
German - Extreme Morris Dancing (lots of face slapping) whilst wearing leather pants.
Italians - Extreme Carpentry (crucifixtion)
Austrian - Extreme Hide & Seek (only family members allowed to play)
Can anyone think of anymore?

Re: What sports?
I don't know about countries, but Depot Para did wonders for basketball.
Who says white men can't jump?...We need people who look to the stars, holding the nation and the world in their hearts but at the same time we need down-to-earth people who can do serious and trying work.
In a definite sense, a country's power and prestige isn't only a reflection of its economic power but also a reflection of its people's quality and morality. Moreover, I think the latter is actually more important in the long-term.
