    Monkey Mums.

I tuned in to this prog last night ( Channel 5) thinking it would be an in depth examination of the MILFs of Hartlepool, or about families days at Chichester, but sadly it turned out to be a documentary of women in US of A who adopt monkeys. Not as pets, but as 'sons or daughters'. They are treated as children.
I only mention this in case anyone wants to catch it on repeat. So nice to see such warm-hearted, intelligent and attractive people doing such worthwhile things.
I don't feel old. I don't feel anything until noon.

Indeed, and most appear to live in the Adirondacks, or some other hillbilly area. One couple, from their appearance, actually did look as if they were the natural parents of these primates.

But are the monkeys better behaved, cheaper, quieter, unable to require a Nintendo DS, less lightly to develop a drug habit, get knocked up aged 13, defraud the benefit system, rob their grandparents and burn down your house?

If so I could be in the market if a Mr Milsum ever gets broody.

In Voltaire's famous philosophical work Candide* he described how ladies might take a monkey or ape as pet.....and lover. Yes. I said lover.

Seen often in British high streets to this day of course if you look close enough.

    * if you are partially sighted ** or are medically afraid of books and haven't the time to read it basically this bloke, right, the hero, he finally decides that life is what you make it and you should try and be satisfied with what you have. Sort of. "all is for the best in the best of all possible worlds".

** hang on then....how are you reading this then? Why you little.... I oughta.....!

I've often been compared to a primate and not the Archbishop. I'm old, fat, hairy and wrinkled. And I can grunt.
