    America's Army - the game

Folks! I just spent most of the day downloading and installing America's Army having been rather impressed by it at DCMT, Shriv. Yeah - I know how sad that makes me...

    Does anyone else play this?

That's all I'm going to say before I lapse into truly sad geekery! :D

Yeah, I played it a while back. Good fun, but annoying having to complete certain levels of play before being able to play with all features. I think, or maybe I was just rubbish.

I think the US Army made it with the primary intention of getting more people interested in signing up for the forces, that's why it's free and all. Maybe the Brit Army should make one...

It has been very popular, with the age group that the recruiters, wanted to reach. (Gamers) It seems to work for them, perhaps you are right, it might also work for Brit recruiters too.

Not a bad game, have been playing it for about a month now. Have to agree with the moan about not all features being available to a first time player.

If the game requires thinking too hard and more than a LEFT, RIGHT, GO button combo' then I'm afraid I get frustrated and can't play. Bring back Space Invaders - but even then the meteorites splitting up and coming from all directions caused me to panic!

It's a cracking game, although rather hard - actually being a soldier does not help you stop getting your arse whipped by 11 year old belgian kids.

They developed it as a genuine recruiting tool, but would you want a lot of this happening? :

Thanks for the link - useful site.

Slightly astonished that although this story ( ex Pfc Green - accused of raping Iraqi 14 yr old and shooting her family) has been posted since early August there is not a single reader comment.

I haven't seen this game you are referring to but I would agree that it is probably being used to recruit. The US military will do just about anything these days to grab the attention of anyone to get them to join.

I didn't even get a smile from the nurse behind the desk she didn't even know I existed but went on talking about the great deal she got on a TV to the other nurse. What kind of recruiting tool is that? Join the army girls won't talk to you. :P

The game is alright online and I'm sure it would be better if my computer wasn't such a piece of garbage.
