Machines don't fight wars. People do, and they use their minds. Really?

In the Times (I think), it mentions that the aerial resupply of paras in Afghanistan went wrong when the helicopter dropped of supplies of food and water to the Taleban. So it's not just the septics

Funny old thing...friend of mine used to work for a British company which made remote STEERABLE delivery chutes for exactly this problem.....displayed the kit at RIAT Fairford a coupla years ago...polite interest from various people but no takers...very simple bit of kit too.

Offence obviously taken where none was intended......I saw this kit demo-ed and it seemed to meet a plain need...if the end-users gave it the thumbs down on operational ground fair enough - take more water with it MTS.....

point taken.... but stop looking for a sub-agenda where none exists.

as you say, the end-users (i met) gave it the thumbs down on operational grounds. Thay concluded that it was easier for a paratrooper to opperate them in from the air, rather than by a person from the ground

That said, I know that other people may well have adopted them for parachute insertions - pathfinders and the usual special-school outings.

Umm, that video was in iraq was it? Same iraq that "over there" was filmed in? Cos it looked quite a bit like Southern California type vegetation to me....

edited to add, "ah it was afghan apparently, just read the comments"
"What kind of Terrorist are you?"
    "I am a terrifying....Terrorist... Are you scared?"
    "No.."
"God dammit! Oh, err, i mean Allah dammit..."

"so where did you train to be a terrorist?"
    "At the Suicide Bomber facility"
    "Oh really? Nice Place?"
    "It was..."
    "Why, what happened"
    "New guy...."

I'm confused! You're saying that there is a air drop system that exists operated a paratrooper onboard with the payload?
