Giles
It's all been a bit serious so I thought I lighten the mood a little. Given the fact that most of us have had something to do with the services and there is nothing new with cuts in our services, its worth reflecting that cartoonists have been commenting for many years. My personal favourite is Giles and I have a few of his cartoon books. Here's one I found as a starter that reflects the position that many of you will have been in over the years

Thanks for the reminder.
Excellent, lovable, enduring and despite being very much of the particular Zeitgeist, often universally relevant.
The Iron Duke always reminds me of Grandma Giles; The whiff of "Bull's-Eyes, Embrocation and Brandy". But above all, belligerent:

I like this one...

Rodney2qIn the career of glory one gains many things; the gout and medals, a pension and rheumatism....all of these fatigues experienced in your youth, you pay for when you grow old. Because one has suffered in years gone by, it is necessary to suffer more, which does not seem exactly fair.
