"Hate" belt??
Never heard that description before, in the 1950's and early 60's (yes I really am that old!) they were quite common and could be seen on some of the older ex soldiers working on their allotments.On a cold winters night in Belfast I became aquainted with an egg banjo.....

I haven't heard them called "Hate" belt either.
The ones I'm used to seeing are brass badges on a leather belt.

I got a cracker off eBay, £55, and there were two capbadges worth £70 each alone! The seller was much angered! I told him he should a stuck a reserve on it!
The belts are very unique to the original owner. They show of the sector they served, i.e. Other Regiments close by, in the Bde or Div. Very popular with the Aussies.
