Bedford SB Bus/Ambulance in military service.

Right, first up, I'll admit to being a bus-spotter. Don't ask me why, I just am. Some people collect Land Rovers, others guns; with me its buses.

Presently, I'm looking to restore a Bedford SB bus as used by all three Services from the early 1960's through to the mid 1970's, for show.

As part of the restoration, I'm trying to research the use of these vehicles, and I would like to ask if anyone has information, memories, anecdotes or even documents or photos if they could assist me.

To those of you who may be able to help, you have my thanks.

I remember the old green buses we used to get to school in Germany in the 70s we used to call them "tin cans". They were more fun when you were a kid than the white battle buses.

I remember them from going to school in the 50's, they didn't half bounce around. Did you still have a bus escort in the '70's

Aye, If I remember right their where some minging pad wifes who had the job of being bus escorts. Fair enough, they scared the shite out of us so we didn't mind the bumpy ride! Ah the kids out here in germany now don't know how good they have it

Back seats were brilliant on the bus run out of sight of the escort.
