Best wishes to your dad, PTP.

I have written to my MP, but as Bliar has just promoted him to Blind Pew's old job I don't expect much.

Letter sent to my MP, he likes a chance to stir up Ingram and his cronies, did it a treat when the MoD said they were in the process of ending free parcels to Iraq in 2003.

That way, it would hopefully be less of an embarrassing issue for the last survivor. The one thing that seems to run through these chaps is the same sort of thing you usually see in winners of the VC. They don't want a fuss, and usually think the honour was at least equally deserved by their comrades. He could take the view that all he did was to survive longer than anyone else.

Therefore I suggest one funeral after the last survivor falls out to his duties

    Kind regards

I think this is an excellent idea. It sort of mirrors the Unknown Soldier as a representative of his generation, but in this case his identity will be known. Just hoping that the pollies can stop feathering their own nests for a while and concentrate on something that matters.

    Re: THE LAST TOMMY

Just to let you all know, I have contacted my former PC (who is an MP) asking for his support. He's a good man and has come out in support for us before.

Anyone else had any response from their MP's as yet?

    Re: THE LAST TOMMY

Sorry guys, I am probably begining to sound like a boring old arrse.

I have just sent an email to the media people at the RBL. The person responsible for this sort of thing (i.e. remembrance) is a Francis Hoy. If you go onto the RBL web site, look up "Contact us" then "Media" you will see them listed there.

Don't know if it's a good idea, but should we all collectively bombard them with emails regarding this? Will it show the streangth of feeling or will cause a hindrance?

They often go by sheer weight of correspondence - more message = more people interested, therefore better had take notice. jediKnight - have been busy as promised on this, will PM you later this evening with an update.
