Is it jus't me or did I notice the rise of socialism in the the current EU about the same time as the wall came down in Berlin.
Frau Merkle is east German and wee man Sarkozy has deep socialist/commie roots from Hungary, don't suppose I'm reading into that too much am I?
Hmmm......Socialism rises to put everyone in debt, and drive economies into the shitter?

The wall did cut corners and there were several exclaves and enclaves. The Lenne triangle was one:

You can see the first wall (with graffiti), the land with the camp on is East Berlin on the wrong side of the wall. Beyond is the death strip with a trench and the the far (clean, painted white for a nice sharp silhouette) wall. This is the area where Hitler had his bunker.
These bits were tidied up in a land swap in 1988:

On the map in the SW by no. 1 you can see, near Babelsberg, a West Berlin hamlet surrounded by the DDR with a single road in.

Google Earth still shows the line of the wall. It's especially clear to the north of Spandau. You can do the same for the Inner German Border, too.Last edited by Brotherton Lad; 11-02-2012 at 13:03.

It depends on how you define an "Ossie". Her father was from Berlin and became a lutheran pastor. Her motherwas born in Danzig, which is still a point of contention for some. ;) Landser - Polaken Tango - YouTube
Although she was born in Hamburg her father was appinted as pastor to a church in East Germany and the yoiung angela was educated in the DDR.

All correct, however the family members had no travel restrictions put on them, and went back and forth across the IGB frequently, due to their West German Passports.
On a personal note,I wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her, that's less than an inch, and her father even less, given the privileges they had as a family, whilst living in the DDR.
