1st instalment. Somehow Saul David manages to get through without mentioning Marlborough's march to the Danube or "An army marches on its stomach" mostly attributed to Napoleon but he may have pinched it from Frederick the Great (when does an axiom become a cliche?). Otherwise I found this a most interesting and well illustrated initial resume of the development of military logistics from Hadrian's Wall to Camp Bastion. Give it a go, more next week. As for the bandages bit, I hope Rick Jolly will get a nod.
