So did I, I think it was, for once, our propaganda machine that altered it to Berlin. But I am absolutely sure that Hitler only had one ball, Goering had 2 but very small, Himmler had something similar but poor old Goebbels had no balls at all.

Goering had a sense of humour and was able to laugh at himself. There is a story that he took personal command of the fighter control system and mistook a group pof defenders for an air raid and sent the German fighters to chase each other round the sky. He is supposed to have awarded a medal for the battle of Kopernick - after a famous spoof when some Kaiser era Walter Mitty dressed up as a Prussian Officer and turned out the garrison for a day.

Perhaps he is thinking of his mother in law. She married a Jewish chap called Friedlander, who died in Buchenwald.
Magda certainly did her bit for the Ayryan race. How son by her first marriage to one of the Quandt's - (Gobbel's step son) ended up as head of the Quandt family buisness VARTA owniong a big bit of BWM etc post war..

Can't remember the blokes name, but one of the Dutch Resistance leaders was once quoted as saying:
"They tell us that they are the Master Race, but when the drone starts, we see them cower under tables. Do you know what that does for us?" Interesting third-order effects, and all that.

Molotov said much the same thing when the RAF bombed Berlin when he was visiting.
Dr Johnson: 'Any man thinks less of himself for not having been a soldier, or not having been to sea.'
Thiomas Babington Macaulay, quoted by Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher of Kilverstone: 'Moderation in war is imbecility!'
Douglas MacArthur: 'There is no substitute for Victory!'

No he was in a PW cage. According to this discussion forum Any info or photos of Harald Quandt (the goebbels stepson) as a FJ ? - Wehrmacht-Awards.com Militaria Forums
So Harald Goebbels may have been a fighting soldier. Primasole bridge is a good name to mention. I wonder if he served in Crete? (The Goebebels side of the family may not have been the bad bit. The Quandts have their own family business concentration camp supplying labout to their concerns.)The Oberleutnant Harald Quandt fought in Sicily belonging to the 3rd company (commanded by the Oberleutnant Horst Matheus) of the Pioniere Bataillon (1. FJD), during the fighting around the Primosole bridge, on 14 July 1943.
Later, Quandt was captured by the British in Tomba di Pesaro in September 1944.
Magda was particularly stupid to kill her kids. Had they lived, they would have been one of the big beneficiary of the German economic miracle.Last edited by Pteranadon; 31-01-2012 at 21:39.
